Besty Lundell, founder of Sarabande
Stables, studied both horsemanship and dance in
Spain where her unique concept of horsemanship was
born. She believes that, as in dance where two
people must build trust and understanding with one
another, a rider and horse must apply that same
practice. Betsy’s objective is for students to not
only learn the traditional disciplines of riding,
but also to go beyond that in developing positive
communication techniques with their horse that
result in an integrated, confident team.
Betsy grew up riding horses on her family’s ranch in Southern Arizona. In her successful show career, she competed Huntseat at the National Level. In addition, Betsy was head wrangler at a Wyoming ranch for four years. She also trained therapy horses for Epona Equestrian for four years and taught therapeutic riding classes for disabled children. She started Sarabande Academy of Riding in 2004.

Katie Morey, assistant instructor,
started riding at Sarabande in 2005. She quickly
illustrated her talent and sailed through the the
Sarabande program with ease. She then apprenticed
with Betsy learning how to be an instructor and
work with the students, showing yet another talent
of being able to teach her passion of
riding.
